After months of hard work, the championships were finally upon us. We had entered 4 teams, Chasers, Seekers, Hunters and Runners.
Friday saw Hunters and Runners competing for their Divisional win. Hunters first in; Harry, Billy, Summer and Chance. All dogs ran paw perfect while doing much faster times than expected! They only managed to win one race all day, but still got placed 4th! Chance really showing how much he has come on when he had to run third dog and have Summer run into him, he didnt bat an eyelid, go Chance. Nathan lost his head a little and got more than a few lights, but overall everyone was really happy with what they had achieved and were more than happy with their fourth place. Well done guys!
Runners were up next, (Kane, Skye, Mia and Honey) first race in Skylar forgot to change heads and went in with her Barbie head, and ended up running out three times consecutively, so of course we lost that first race (though it seems the team that beat us was quite a bit faster anyway!) They won the next four races, with Kane doing 4.8 (amazing) and Honey balancing it out with her slug impression! Runners came second and everyone was absolutely chuffed to bits!
Sunday we had Seekers and Chasers in. Seekers running in Division 9; (Digby, Winchester, Neville and Tes) This was by far the best racing we had all weekend, the whole division was so tight! They won three out of five races, taking it to a three way tie for first place! Sadly, High Flyers had done a much faster time than us, putting us in second place. Big congrats to Karen who managed some incredible changes with Tes and n ot just one or two, all day she was spot on and making me squeal!
Chasers were the last of ours to race, (Lyriq, Calluna, Jasmine and Inca) First race they ran really well, gaining a new seed time of 17.11, we lost but were happy with the dogs and handlers. Next race in we had a disaster, Calluna lost her head and tried chasing the other lane, unfortunately she changed her mind at the last moment and tried to go up her own lane, on the wrong side, which meant she collided with Lyriq. Obvioulsy we pulled those dogs immediately as it was quite a big hit and they were both bruised and sore. We continued with Jasmine and Inca in order to give the other teams a lane to race against, as we only had two dogs we asked Extreme if they would like to join us with another two dogs, we went NFC (Not For Competition) with Inca (Extremes Staffy) Surf, Extreme Collie and our own Jasmine and Inca.
Both Calluna and Lyriq seem to have bounced back with no damage, lets hope they are happy to continue playing flyball.
