This was to be our first camping trip as a full team, everyone was there, even though not running dogs!
Two open teams were entered, Storm Chasers and Storm Hunters.
Chasers were in Div 1. First race of the day Inca decided she didnt like the look of the dog in the other lane, span at the box and gave a little chase (early in Inca's flyball career she was chased off the box by another dog, which pinned her at the back of the ring and has been a little nervous ever since). The next couple of legs I held her back so the other team could finish before she went, so she could get it right, she did fine. Next race I sent her up for a run and she didnt look right at all so I had to pull her out of the race. Katherine had a look at her and concluded that she had pulled her shoulder out when she span at the box end to chase the dog. This left us with only three dogs to race, they all did very well, but of course we gained no placing or points for the day.
Hunters were next up, with Kane, Roxy, Macdui, Tes and Honey. Unfortunately this did not go at all to plan, Roxy and Mac were running out a lot and we didnt manage to complete all day. Tes did exceptionally well only running out towards the end of the day as she was exhausted, poor girly! In hindsight I should have ran the team as I did the previous week, allowing the other team to finish first, then sending our dogs, and bringing the racing closer, gradually. Still you live and learn. Roxy and Mac did manage some full runs, but with so much going on it all seemed a bit much for them.
One thing I do have to mention is how proud I am of the entire team; Kay, Natalie and Nathan and Emily were not running their dogs as there were no starters, but they came along anyway, to give support to the team and join in with our first team camping trip. We all seem to have bonded well as a team and the true flyball spirit is showing through already, helping each other out and enjoying each others company. We're all very much looking forward to our next venture at Anglesey, where I will make sure I do a much better job of running the teams
