Another lovely venue, such a shame about the weather, drizzly and miserable throughout, though racing continued and the ground held out!
We were missing a couple of dogs for this tournament so we ran mixed teams
Saturday was Runners, consisting of; Bracken, Skye, Jasmine and Honey with Billy running in the two minutes. We were on a declared time of 20.70 and broke out immediately with a time of 19.87!! Ooooops!! For all the times I have declared I have NEVER been so wrong! Turns out, little Miss Barbie brain (Skye) has started running 5.5! Rules state we cannot hold the dogs back, so as to slow the team; you should run with close changes. So, we changed the order, putting Jasmine last, as Honey isn't a fan of dogs running into her; she will run a little slower, this worked a treat and we could soon swap back to our original order once Skye and Honey had blown away their cobwebs! The afternoons racing saw the very same thing happen, so once again we swapped the order about and were able to race fairly. The team came second overall, so an excellent position to finish on.
Sunday we had starters and Seekers.
Starters were first up, this time Lexi making her debut and what a star she was managing approx 5 faultless legs! Well done that Shepherd! Lyriq also made a lot of progress running BACK down the lane as well as up it! Mum had run him for this and the last comp, but having nearly ripped her arms out of her sockets, it was decided that he is to be run by his dad! Amber, Chance and Harry looked like pro's and Chance not stalking the incoming dogs at all! What a difference! They came fifth and did me proud.
The last Open team was Seekers, consisting of; Winchester, Kane, Inca, Tes and Chance. The team ran really well and were just outmatched by two teams which put them in second. Big well done to Chance who ran 3 legs without fault and was really starting to power back!
Harry, Amber, Chance and Summer have now left Starters (hopefully for good) they will be making their full Open debut (sadly minus Harry) at Sutton Fields next week!
