This was the weekend we have all been working towards since we started almost 12 months ago. We had just the two teams entered; Seekers and Chasers.
Seekers were in on Saturday and the dogs and handlers ran their hearts out, sadly they were only placed fourth but the other teams just had the edge on them, next year they will be much stronger, fitter and their handlers able to cope with being pushed to make close changes. For their first year they have done me and themselves extremely proud and I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful team.
Chasers raced on Sunday, also coming away with a fourth, a very frustrating days racing, the weather (as seems to be the theme for this year) was not on our side at all, only this time it was just too hot! The dogs didn't seem to cope well with the heat at all and were lagging from the word go. Inca didn't seem to have any "go" in her at all, while the others just couldnt seem to pull out any fast times. A couple of races were lost on lights but it was clear that we would never have beaten the top seeded teams as they were just too fast for us.
We will be back next year, hopefully with a much stronger team of dogs and handlers. Everyone kept their heads together and did just what I expected of them; ran to the best of their abilities. Well done to all, lets see if we c
